New tools to give due value to an antique masterpiece: the entire work by Ferdinando Ongania on the Basilica of San Marco in Venice has been digitised so that it can be promoted worldwide for maximum availability. Facsimiles of the artwork collection have also been made.
The masterpiece is now available in the Digital Library of a dedicated website and in an app for smartphones and tablets that makes the visit more engaging for users thanks to Augmented Reality.
The website includes many sections detailing specific aspects of the artwork, and the Digital Library where all the plates and original texts can be viewed for free.
The Digital Library is also being connected to an eCommerce platform for those who would like to buy individual plates’ reprints.
The app for tablets and smartphones makes the visit to the Basilica more engaging thanks to additional content that can be consulted through Augmented Reality that catches the real view and overlays it the relevant virtual information level.
An exclusive, limited facsimile edition was also realised of all the documents, graphics, photographs pertaining to the collection.
